Talize

I’ve donated regularly to Talize Thrift in London, believing I was supporting a good cause. But after this experience, I will never return. I accidentally dropped my wallet into their donation bin along with some clothing. I realized it within the hour and came straight back. The employee who emptied the bin oddly knew exactly which bin I was talking about—yet claimed there was no wallet. I know for a fact it was there. I didn’t go anywhere else, and I even heard the wallet hit the bottom of the bin when I dropped the bag. I asked to speak with a manager. A woman who claimed to be the manager refused to give me her name, said she wouldn’t go look for it, and told me she’d just “take my number and call if it shows up.” That was the extent of the effort. No searching. No concern. No responsibility. This is deeply disappointing from a business that relies on donations. If something valuable—like a wallet or ring—accidentally ends up in a donation bin, don’t expect Talize to care. There was zero integrity or accountability shown here. The entire interaction felt evasive and suspicious. If this is how they treat regular donors who make an honest mistake, I can only imagine how little they value the trust of the community
